National Park & Recreation Association
For more than 100 years, the National Recreation and Park Association has advocated the importance of thriving, local park systems, the opportunity for all Americans to lead healthy, active lifestyles, and the preservation of great community places.
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is charged with maintaining and preserving the 116 state parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.
Pennsylvania State Parks The primary purpose of Pennsylvania State Parks is to provide opportunities for enjoying healthful outdoor recreation and serve as outdoor classrooms for environmental education. In meeting these purposes, the conservation of the natural, scenic, aesthetic, and historical values of parks should be given first consideration. Stewardship responsibilities should be carried out in a way that protects the natural outdoor experience for the enjoyment of current and future generations. Check out the event pages for our regions parks: Ridley Creek, French Creek, Marsh Creek, and White Clay Creek.
Chester County Conservation CampThe mission of the Chester County Conservation Camp is to educate youth through experiential learning in a traditional outdoor camp setting. Through adventure based activities, campers explore local natural resources, experience varied ecosystems, and aspire toward stewardship of the environment. The camping program strives to build understanding and appreciation of local and global conservation issues. Registration fees are kept to a minimum because of the financial support of local organizations and governing bodies.
